Houston Aggravated Robbery Attorney
Harris County Robbery Lawyer for 25 years
Robbery itself is a serious felony that occurs when you injure someone or threaten to injure or kill someone while in the course of committing theft (Texas Penal Code §29.02). If convicted of robbery, you face 2 to 20 years in prison and a fine up to $10,000.
Aggravated robbery is more serious and the penalties more severe. If convicted of aggravated robbery, you face 5 to 99 years or life in prison and a fine up to $10,000 (Texas Penal Code §29.03).
Robbery cases are complex and the penalties are severe. It is important to retain a Houston aggravated robbery lawyer with experience in defending these cases. Attorney James Sullivan has fought aggravated robbery cases at trial and has also persuaded prosecutors to dismiss robbery cases. Sullivan also has experience in getting several such cases no billed (dismissed) by the grand jury. These no billed cases may be eligible for immediate expunction. Of course, each case is different and the results depend on the unique facts and circumstances of each case.

Client Review of Aggravated Robbery Case
Mr. Sullivan got my grandson’s aggravated robbery charge reduced and saved him 13 years in prison
I highly recommend Attorney James Sullivan. Throughout the entire process he was very patient, understanding and answered all our questions. He also gave my grandson valuable advice that will be useful in any child’s life in general and that I will also share with the rest of my grandchildren. Because of stupid judgment, my grandson Adrian was charged with aggravated robbery and faced 5 to 99 years or life in prison. The best deal his court-appointed lawyer could get for him was 15 years in prison. You can imagine how devastated the family was to hear this news not to mention how my 19 year old grandson felt. That is when I decided to hire an attorney for him and found Mr. Sullivan online. Thanks to Mr. Sullivan’s hard work and determination the case was reduced to an aggravated assault and Adrian will now only have to serve 2 years in prison. I know every case is different, but I also know with a good lawyer like Mr. Sullivan there can be a fighting chance for almost anyone.
Thank you Mr. Sullivan, I can never thank you enough.
From a grateful grandmother that, God willing, will be able to see her grandson when he gets out of prison.—Avvo review posted by a client’s grandmother on November 22, 2014
Hats off to Mr. Sullivan!
Mr. Sullivan represented my adult son and I cannot be more thankful that I found him! He was able to work out a surprisingly good plea bargain for my son.
My son is an addict and committed a series of drug store robberies over a 3 month period in order to get money for drugs after losing his job. He would pass a note to a cashier, saying he had a gun (which he did not have), and demanded money, which was then given to him. He thought he had found a solution to his cash flow problems, so he continued to rob. Of course, he eventually got caught. He was charged with 2 aggravated robberies and a regular robbery. The only reason he wasn’t charged with 3 aggravated robberies was because he had been chased from the scene of his last robbery, caught with the money he had taken, but did not have a gun. Instead of a weapon, he had concealed a plastic Wii remote under his shirt and pretended to have a gun. However, in the news, I was shocked to see a story about my son that claimed he was the person of interest in a dozen robberies. It seemed it was just going to be a matter of time before more charges were brought against my son.
I found Mr. Sullivan’s website and sent him an email in the middle of the night, and he answered. He showed up early the next morning to reset the first court appearance of my son. He visited my son in the jail and spent several hours getting to know my son and his life story. He cared about him and wanted to get him the best result possible.
Over the next 3 months, Mr. Sullivan continued to work for my son, eventually getting a surprisingly lenient plea bargain and I couldn’t be happier. My son admitted guilt to 2 regular robberies and was sentenced to 7 years in TDC. He could be eligible for parole in as little as 10 months if he is a model prisoner. Furthermore, part of the plea bargain was that no other charges would be brought forth. Had a dozen aggravated robbery charges been brought forward, there is a good chance my son would have been in prison for life! The sentence range for one aggravated robbery is from 5 years to life in prison. The State could have asked the judge to stack the sentences of those cases. Instead, of the 3 charges already on the books, 1 aggravated robbery charge was dismissed, and the other aggravated robbery charge was reduced to a regular robbery. The sentence range for a regular robbery is from 2 to 20 years in prison. Without Mr. Sullivan working on the case, I doubt that would have happened.
Maybe you think my son deserved to be in jail for life, but when you get to know him and the story behind the story, you wouldn’t feel that way. My son is not going to be an addict the rest of his life. And, he didn’t break the law when he wasn’t an addict. He is a person who needs help to recover. Now he has that chance. He really wants to start going to Narcotics Anonymous meetings as soon as he is in a place where they have them. He has told me that he feels that “doing time” has saved his life, and Mr. Sullivan has made it possible for him to enjoy it again someday.
I will continue to pray for Mr. Sullivan. He is the most genuinely compassionate person I have ever met!–Avvo review posted by a client’s mother on April 1, 2016
