Harris County Misdemeanor Cases

Misdemeanor criminal cases in Harris County, Texas are held in 15 different County Criminal Courts at Law located in Houston, Texas.   There are 3 prosecutors assigned to each court.  The number 3 prosecutor may have just been hired and it may literally be their first day as a lawyer.  The number 2 prosecutor has substantial experience and may have been on the job a year or so.  The Chief prosecutor has been a number 3, a number 2, and been assigned as a number 3 prosecutor in a Felony court.  They often have been on the job about 2.5 years.  The Chief in a misdemeanor court has wide discretion to dismiss a case.
