Aggravated Assault is a serious felony offense.  It is usually a second degree felony punishable by 2-20 years in prison, however there are exceptions listed below that qualify the offense as a first degree felony punishable by 5-99 years of life in prison.

If committed with a deadly weapon, the person must serve one-half the sentence or 2 years whichever is longer before being eligible for parole.
